It was anticipated that DEP would have some regulatory/permitting role in approving any road or transit-based solution that might evolve out of the process. While programmatic reviews of permit applications are very case-specific, the project team thought it would be beneficial to have a DEP representative to represent the perspectives of various units within the Department (e.g., land use regulation - wetlands & stream encoachment - and SHPO). It should be noted that SHPO indicated that they would not participate in the Roundtable process because they did not want to prejudice any eventual review they may do in the future. |

Plainsboro Township |
Community |
Elected officials perceived to represent a variety of community constituencies, including local business, neighborhoods & public at-large; Plainsboro was included because of its immediate proximity to the original Millstone Bypass Study Area and because the Township contains a number of significant traffic generators (both commercial and residential) that contribute to the mobility issues in Penns Neck Area. The project team anticipated that new traffic modeling would include Plainsboro Township and that the process would be enhanced by their participation. Further, the team anticipated that, because of Plainsboro's proximity, even a small change in the boundaries of the study area would necessitate their participation. |
Princeton Borough |

Additions: |
Sierra Club |
Statewide/Environment |
Included on Roundtable because of "Consulting Party" status under the Section 106 process undertaken as part of Millstone Bypass EA. Not originally included because of statewide policy focus. In addition, "Consulting Party" status was not a criteria for membership given the Roundtable's broader focus and because there will be a separate Section 106 process conducted as part of the overall EIS process, based on the solutions/alternatives investigated in the DEIS. |
Washington Road Elms Preservation Trust |
Local/Historic Preservation |
Included on Roundtable because of "Consulting Party" status under the Section 106 process undertaken as part of Millstone Bypass EA. Not originally included because the project team felt that the perspective of this group was adequately represented by the Millstone Bypass Alert Coalition. As previously stated, "Consulting Party" status was not originally a consideration. |
Potential Addition: (Currently pending) |
Princeton Junction Chamber of Commerce |
Economic Development/Business |
At the first Roundtable meeting, Carol Carson indicated that she felt that the Chamber of Commerce of the Princeton Area did not adequately represent the specific interests of businesses in Princeton Junction. No Roundtable members raised objections to adding this merchants group. Subsequently, Ms. Carson was asked to provide a letter stating her affiliation with this group and her designation as their representative. The letter has not been received. |
